Audible's new features let you explore book worlds — and use AI to talk to characters
Audible announced three AI-powered features on October 1, 2026: Interactive Stories, Character Guide, and Visual Explorer. Interactive Stories lets listeners speak in their own words with book characters, starting with Renfield from the Audible Original version of Dracula. The character initiates the experience with a role, goal, and stakes, then reacts in real time, making this a notable commercial example of AI character interaction inside audiobook worlds.

Talking with a literary character can change what lingers after listening. I am most interested in how Audible keeps the interaction faithful to the story.
